Lunchroom Supervisor - Opening at Ferson Creek
Currently, we are looking to add an additional supervisor in the lunchroom and on the playground, Monday through Friday. If you are interested in applying for our opening, please see the attached directions for completing an application online. 2017-2018 CUSD 303 Community Preschool Program Lottery
For the 2017-2018 school year, District 303 will offer a five-day-a-week, ½ day, morning or afternoon preschool program. Families will have the option to choose from the following locations: Fox Ridge, Ferson Creek or Norton Creek Elementary School.
The program will be open to 3-5 year old children who reside within the D303 school boundaries and are 3 years old by September 1, 2017. Children who are 5 years old by September 1, 2017 will not be eligible for enrollment.
The tuition cost for the program is $285 per month. Also, a $100 annual, non-refundable registration and materials fee will be required.*
*Tuition and registration & materials fees are pending board approval.
Come see our classrooms in action! Observational tours will be offered to all D303 community parents prior to registration. The tours are scheduled as follows:
- Monday, January 9, 2017, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at Norton Creek, 2033 Smith Road, West Chicago
- Tuesday, January 10, 2017, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at Fox Ridge, 1905 Tyler Road, St. Charles
- Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at Ferson Creek, 38W160 Bolcum Road, St. Charles
Since space is limited, an enrollment lottery for new preschool students will be held. The enrollment lottery will be offered online on the district website (www.D303.org) from Friday, January 13, 2017 through Monday, January 23, 2017.
Names will be drawn on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, and parents will be notified by email that day if their child was randomly selected. Registrants not chosen will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified when a space becomes available.
District 303 Parent University - Wednesday, January 25, 2017
Join us for our next District 303 Parent University for a viewing of the Documentary Film, Paper Tigers on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 7:00 PM, in the Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Rd. in St. Charles. This screening is being provided in collaboration with the St. Charles Education Association, St. Charles Education Support Professionals, and St. Charles Transportation & Maintenance.
Paper Tigers is an intimate look into the lives of selected students at Lincoln High School, an alternative school that specializes in educating traumatized youth. Set amidst the struggling rural community of Walla Walla, WA, the film intimately examines the inspiring promise of Trauma-Informed Communities - a movement that is showing great promise in healing youth struggling with the dark legacy of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Following six students over the course of a school year, the flim shows Lincoln’s staff trying a new approach to discipline: one based on understanding and treatment rather than judgment and suspension.

PTO Science Night - Save the Date
PTO Science Night is scheduled for Thursday, January 26, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In preparation for the event, please send in any empty 2-liter bottles with lids and old compact discs (CDs).
2017-2018 Kindergarten Registration - Save the Date
Kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, at Ferson Creek Elementary School. For additional information, please see the attached 2017-2018_D303 Kindergarten Registration Flyer.
Note to 3rd & 5th Grade Parents - Reminder
As a reminder, your child was administered two Performance Series assessments and the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) this fall as part of the Academically Talented (AT) identification process for literacy & math. You can anticipate your child's assessment results will be mailed this week.
Additional information regarding further assessments will be mailed home during the week of January 23, 2017. If your child is identified to take the literacy and/or math placement tests, he or she will do so on the following dates:
Tuesday, February 7th - Math
Thursday, February 9th - Literacy

If you completed and submitted a blue DirectorySpot Information Request (see attached) for the PTO this week, your family information has been entered in our online directory. Within minutes of your information being entered, you should have received an email from DirectorySpot inviting you to set your password by logging in to their site via your computer. If you have not done so already, please double check your email as the initial password request/setup is time sensitive.
