Attendance & Tardy Letters

In the event you received an attendance or tardy letter this week, please understand the primary intent of the letter was to offer support in the event it is warranted. While many student absences are due to illnesses, unforeseen circumstances such as a death in the family, or religious holidays, some students are impacted by factors related to school avoidance, anxiety, etc. As stated in the letter, please don't hesitate to contact us for support, as needed.

As noted on page 4 of the District 303 Discipline Procedures, CUSD 303 believes that regular attendance at school results in greater academic success. To meet our mutual goal for student success, we participate in a partnership and shared expectation among school, parent and student that students will be present and on time throughout each day school is in session. Further, as noted on page 5, when a student is absent without valid cause 5% (or 9) of the previous 180 regular attendance days, he/she is considered a chronic or habitual truant.
