About Fourth Grade

Literacy
In reading, our fourth grade students support their comprehension and understanding of a variety of fiction & nonfiction texts by continuing to strengthen their rate, accuracy, & expression. They analyze author's craft & structure and how it impacts the meaning of a text. Further, the students seek to build a deeper understanding of topics or themes.

Over the course of the school year, our fourth grade students build on their previous experience as they explore narrative, information, and opinion writing. As fourth grade students, they seek to write using structure (i.e. lead, transitions, ending, & organization), development (i.e. elaboration & craft), and language conventions (i.e. spelling & punctuation).
